- First of all, you need to place the negative end of your AAAA battery into pen’s body. (There is a minus sign [-] on negative end).
- Insert the top of the pen back into the pen’s body.
Note: If you have an older pen with paper attached. Firstly, ensure you either fold that back in with it or take it out completely. Thus, there shouldn’t be any paper in the new surface pen,
- Now you need to push the top of the battery with little force.
Note: if you have an older surface pen, then you will have to twist the top to keep it secured.

Microsoft Company recommends that it is always handy to keep a spare battery ready. The company says that a single pen can survive one year on a single battery.
